!!! tumblr !!!

Nov. 9th, 2010 | 10:38 am

In honor of Sketchvember, I revived my (other) tumblr! I will try to update with a new sketch every day this month and hope to jumpstart some creative juices. I've been feeling pretty shitty about myself lately so... maybe... this will help. The idea is that every time I feel like spending money or browsing the internet for clothes, I'll make something instead. I dunno. Go!

Let me know if you have an art-related tumblr too! I am following ZERO people haha, I would love to be your creeper! :D

also. Is there a way I can follow every blog type (livejournal, tumblr, blogspot etc) in a streamlined way? Like one giant friend list? I am dumb 8)

saturday night

Oct. 23rd, 2010 | 09:40 pm

I.. I know it's Saturday night and we live in a complex full of college students, but really, could you not play your shitty techno at 23408924302430 decibels? I just want to read in peace, ok, thanks.

Anyways, a really, really sweet animation I stumbled upon:

After APE con, I was thinking I want to take drawing in a different direction again... I keep falling back into a style I really don't like, and I don't know why that keeps happening. I think it might be because I think that is what people want from me.... which is weird, because it's not like my drawings get a lot of attention anyway. UNSATISFIED!

connecting the dots

Oct. 21st, 2010 | 10:15 am

I'm too lazy to write actual posts with words and real thoughts, so have another grab bag of things that I have encountered and wish to share:

1) Le Petit Prince in a runway collection!

2) I'm taking a mammalian vision class this quarter, and I couldn't help thinking that this vision scientist, Helmholtz, looks a lot like a Junjo Ito protagonist.

3) And last but not least, WHAT THE FUCK ARE UP WITH THESE PANTS FOR SALE AT URBAN OUTFITTERS?! Aauuughhhhhhhhhh horrendous. Duo Maxwell called and he wants his trousers back. Hammer time.

(ps. kaiserkuchen, please send me your address so I can send your book!! '3'!)

vogue hommes japan, digital vol 1

Oct. 20th, 2010 | 08:46 am

Moving pictures! It's just like in Harry Potter, but with a vaguely homosexual undertone! Wait, that's pretty much how I read the actual Harry Potter too.

Man, it would be insane if all digital editions of editorials came out like this.

...please vote for my brother?

He's an aspiring DJ and is trying to win some DJ contest thingamadeelio (I'm not really familiar with the club scene but. Yes.). Please! It would mean everything to me and him and would only be a few seconds of your time.

Go http://evolvingmusic.mixmatchmusic.com/2010/09/29/official-moogfest-remix-contest/

Then, under the Hot Chip widget, look for the "We Have Love REMIX" by The Vandal Squad. +Vote! You can listen to it directly from there or here if you wish.

It's only got 8 votes right now, but we can change that, can't we??? PLEASE!!! Please vote, make my brother's dreams come trueee!! :) :)

+PLUSSSS free simple sketch for anyone who votes, just comment that you voted and tell me whatchu wantz. 8D

Three things I liked today.

Oct. 12th, 2010 | 01:36 am
music: grizzly bear

This kilt-wearing chap via The Sartorialist.

2. Sukitte Iwaseru Houhou.

The first chapter of this very shoujo manga, originally a one-shot. It's sweet and easy and predictable and surely there are much "better" manga to recommend, but the refreshing point that I found in it was that the protagonist is self-aware about her attractiveness. Trying hard to be liked and being successful at it is hardly uncommon of young girls (the so-called Populars), but rarely is it ever depicted in a protagonist of a shoujo manga--the heroine is usually unpurposefully bumbly and somehow unrefined and the "pretty" girl is usually the antagonist. Anyways. I liked it, but then, I'm the kinda girl who reads shoujo manga on the daily... I've said too much.

This Grizzly Bear take away show via Blogotheque.
